Doug Miller

Chief Miller joined the Department in 1981 as a Volunteer Firefighter.  In October of 1986 he was hired as a career Firefighter.  Chief Miller was appointed to his present position on October 1st of 1997.  Chief Miller's duties include Fire Code Enforcement & Plan Review, Fire Marshal for East Wenatchee & Douglas County, in addition to his Fire Command duties for the district, Fire Prevention Education and Fire Investigation.  Chief Miller is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator.  Chief Miller also administers the radio communications for the Fire District.

Chief Miller has a AA degree from Wenatchee Valley College & a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Oregon University.

He is a Certified Fire Inspector, IAAI - Certified Fire Investigator, and has attended the National Fire Academy in Fire Prevention, Command, Fire Administration and Fire Code Plan Review.  Chief Miller is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, Washington Fire Marshal's Association, Region 6 Life Safety Council, Washington Fire Chiefs Association and is a Charter Member of the International Fire Code Institute.

The Fire District serves both East Wenatchee and Douglas County as Fire Code Authority.  Both jurisdictions now follow the 2006 edition of the International Fire Code adopted in July of 2006.

The Fire District currently responds to requests for Fire Safety Inspections within 24 hours of weekday requests.  Hours for Fire Prevention assistance or the Fire Marshal are Monday - Friday / 8am - 4:30pm.   You can reach the Fire Prevention Office at (509) 884-6671.
